MASTERY IS PART OF THE JOY OF LEARNING

The study of becoming an entrepreneur is a task that has brought learning to a new level in my life. Mastery by George Leonard has taught me the importance of practice to achieve your own self mastery of anything that you would like to achieve in this life. I thoroughly enjoyed the new belief I have gained of the plateau principle. I had always believed that if you have plateaued during exercise that you have to change things because your body has become accustomed to what you are doing and you will not see any changes in your exercises. That belief rolled into other aspects of life, but what a difference it makes to understand that the plateau is part of the journey towards self mastery. There is a joy in the process and you become better and better as you do it. Your body starts to master and love what you do and it develops into the rhythm of the task.

I have really enjoyed this class because each of these lessons has taught me to look at the tasks that we are doing in our family business, and see what things I have learned that could complement the tasks that we already have implemented that could be improved. My bosses have a different way of looking at things and as I am discovering nuances that will help us, I make copies of the ideas that will work great and place it on my bosses desk. I know that we have gained greater learning through this process and there is a joy to that learning.

The videos taught the importance of family, and scheduling your time to make sure that the important people are part of the journey as well. They are actually the biggest part of your journey, they are the WHY for many people that helps them to stick to their journey. They are the reasons that people push to succeed and making time for them to sit down together is important. The children don't know how much you do but they do know that they are important in the lives of their parents. I totally agree with that concept.

The awesome thing about all this is that it helps you develop and determine the skills you want to achieve. Skills, that as you master them will help you in any aspect of your life, and I believe you can use it in business to bless the lives of others and strengthen your own life. N. Eldon Tanner taught that, "Self mastery is where we find success. Learning to master ones self with patience is part of the journey." I loved this quote, this is my journey in life and I am grateful for the opportunity that is mine to learn. I didn't take up the task when I was younger, but I have developed the patience needed now that I am older to enjoy the journey.

I also liked the thoughts given that you will not always land your best job the first time around but you can use that job as a stepping stone to better things. Learn the things you can at each stage of your life and look for people that can help you along the way. Especially those with strengths that will supplement and compliment those that you have. The final thought from, "So you want to be an Entrepreneur" reflects that, "if you keep your final goal in mind, work step by step to gain knowledge and take notice of people who might be complementary partners, eventually an irresistible opportunity will appear and you will be prepared for the challenge."

I am prepared for the challenge I have been given the gifts that will help me to achieve my goals, my task is to fail forward and learn the lessons that each of these new things will teach me along the way. I have been blessed since I started the pathway program and here I am now, moving forward and gaining knowledge as I go. So far it has been a fun journey.
